|Love and basic training is all that is needed.|
Dogs Are Protective Without Formal Training. Only training required is basic command. The bully breed is not special when it comes to protection. All dogs have a natural instinct to protect the family (pack), especially with the person that takes the time to care, love, and train on a daily basis.
The other day Sir. Duke reminded me protecting does not require formal training.
My husband came home tired from work. He said he was going to go and take a nap. I said the normal "OK, see you later" as I do when he leaves for work. So, all the dogs minus Bojangles, which was napping with my husband was with me in the office while I worked.
Well, a few hours past. Boy, the husband was tired. He normally only naps for a half to one hour. When my husband woke, I was deep into one of my writing projects. All of a sudden, Sir. Duke got up and walk in front of me low growling. I look to see what he was growling at. I started to hear the foot steps of my husband and Sir. Duke started to show his teeth and lunge towards the sound, while growling. When my husband appear in the door way, both him and Sir. Duke had a surprise look.
Sir. Duke look at my husband like, what are you doing home, I thought you left. My husband froze and had a look like what are you doing! Luckily, Sir. Duke stopped instantly, wagged his tail and gave my husband a kiss.
I do not train Sir. Duke to protect. My boys will protect me against anyone, including the husband if need be, all I do is provide positive basic training, as well unconditional love. No formal training needed.
Caring is sharing. Please share Bully Love and Devotion to spread animal awareness and education, while helping to find homes for dogs in need.
Leave a comment. Tell me what is on your mind. Do you train for protection, or allow the natural bonding process to encourage protection when needed?
